Chana Masala

This recipe tastes completely authentic to me, but then I am a white girl in California. Still I feel like I could impress someone on a date big-time with this. I kind of did, if you count Scott as my date- we polished off the whole batch. You should try it.

2 Tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp curry
1 tsp garam masala
2 Tbls tomato paste
3 Tbls coconut milk
1 can chick peas, drained

soy sauce and black pepper to taste

Saute chopped onion in olive oil until soft. Add garlic, curry, garam masala and tomato paste. Fry 3-5 minutes, then add about 3 oz of water, chick peas and coconut milk. Simmer just a couple more minutes to soften the peas, then serve.
