STILL in Pacific Beach??

Yup, we are still parked in Pacific Beach. But I swear, we're setting out tonight at 6pm! A number of Oregon Trail style tribulations have delayed us all week, most recently, our poor, stressed-out cat getting one of her spontaneous eyeball ulcers. It's not serious, but we lost Saturday morning to the vet, and decided not to rush the last of the packing so that Happy could heal a bit before we hit the road. She's doing much better.

So, why are we leaving tonight instead of tomorrow morning? We hope to frog-hop through Yuma, Arizona at night while the temperature is a balmy 98 degrees, instead of the searing daytime 115. Four hours of driving should get us there by tonight, and then another five hours starting at 6am tomorrow should get us as far as Tucson, where the heat is slightly less deadly.

Anyway that's our first bit of itinerary; it will feature ice packs underneath the cat's blankets, two cases of bottled water, straw hats and an oasis of air conditioning once we get to Tucson and switch on the generator.

Goodbye San Diego, Goodbye Mission Beach, Goodbye friends and neighbors!
